Marc Soudijn sadly passed away on September 6, 2014, a day on which I not only lost my business partner, but also my beloved older brother. Marc spent his entire professional career at Florida Worldwide Citrus after earning his degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Florida in 1986. This is where he cultivated his passion for citrus and established friendships that would last his entire life. He demonstrated that commitment and integrity are vital to building a successful business. I was very fortunate to have worked with Marc for over a decade and am proud to have had such a great brother and mentor. The Marc Neil Soudijn Research Foundation was established to memorialize his contributions to the citrus industry and continue his legacy of innovation. The foundation is funded privately and through contributions by Florida Worldwide Citrus. The foundation has provided research funding to the University of Florida. These funds are used for HLB and flavor chemistry research in conjunction with the Citrus Research & Education foundation at Lake Alfred. As our industry continues to face challenges, we will remain committed to exercising optimism and perseverance – traits that best describe Marc’s character.
If you are interested in supporting the mission of the foundation, please mail checks to our company address with “Foundation” noted on the memo line.
